on Exercise Medicine
Experts from 25 nations met in Langkawi from 19th to 21st Nov, 2017 sharing research findings on the conclusive evidences that confirm that Exercise in prescribed form has positive impact in reducing that effects of NCD’s.
Against the backdrop of convincing evidence, the conference concludes through its resolution themed “Langkawi Declaration on Exercise Medicine (LDEM)” a “Global Action Plan for combating Non Communicable Diseases (NCD’s)”.
The action plan invokes multi-stake holder engagement across nations. The road-map proposed through the LDEM is as follows.
The formation of a Global Expert group within the umbrella of World Conference of Exercise Medicine (WCEM) to formulate the Global action plan. WCEM is the body to be formed to implement the vision as guided by the LDEM.
To set up a permanent secretariat of WCEM in Malaysia to coordinate the working of the expert group.
To create the mechanism for collaborative research.
To enable exchange of research findings and enable dissemination of findings in a dedicated journal to be published by WCEM.
To set standards and global protocols for the same and ethical practice and promote exercise as part of medicine.
To develop training methodologies and contemporary scientific and evidence-based curriculum of the training of medical professionals and exercise therapists to prescribe and to instruct exercises.
To engage international organization like WHO to promote the advocacy of the philosophy of WCEM.
To develop training methodologies and contemporary scientific and evidence-based curriculum of the training of medical professionals and exercise therapists to prescribe and to instruct exercises.
To engage corporations and governments to combine resources in implementing grass root educational empowerment programs using exercise medicine towards enhancing community wellness and combating the issue of NCD prevalence.
To organize annually a meeting of global experts, government and corporate leaders to share views and experiences in their continuing fight against the epidemic of NCD’s.
Our Vision & Mission
To encourage the world to exercise correctly and at a right dosage to prevent and to treat non-communicable diseases.

To work with WHO to reduce physical inactivity by 10% in the year 2025.

To continue scientific research and to disseminate scientific information through The World Conference on Exercise Medicine to the people so that they can be empowered with the knowledge to continue exercising.

The entire objective of the scientific committee is to continue to expand the world conference as this is the information center.
The 1st inaugural meeting was held in Dubai from 18-19th. March, 2018. It was resolved members of this committee to invite more countries to participate at the World Conference on Exercise Medicine, this year will be held at Melaka, 24-26th September. The committee gave out a total of RM306,050.00 to various academic institutions and organisation during its closing dinner.
